Smart - Tiny House Trailer
Everyone's Tiny House needs vary, so we created our flagship tiny house Smart Trailer. View our range of Smart Trailers and features below…
Customisable
Adjust Width and Length
The majority of the NZ market wants two widths and different lengths. We have you covered with widths of 2.4m and 3m (2.95m). Lengths range from 3.6m to 10.2m at 0.6m intervals. Intervals of 0.6m are designed around standard building materials. For example most sheet products are 1.2m meaning you will have less waste and save time cutting, thus reducing your costs.
Choose your Running Gear Preference
We use a removable dolly that carries the wheel assembly and mudguards in two variations. Plus offer a less flexible, less expensive direct fix option. We use an increased load capacity triple axle on the Plus model.
Choose your Accessories
Our 'Smart Trailer' comes in four versions, Basic, Road, Site and Plus. Each version is adaptable and can be customised to your needs through a variety of accessories. Don't need lifting jacks? So don't select them. Want a trailer with no suspension or brakes? Want a water tank?
Features
Detachable Trailer
Do you want to be able to remove the house from the trailer? Maybe utilise one drawbar and dolly with multiple decks to save money? Even use the drawbar and dolly for a utility or tipper trailer. The wheel dolly and draw bar assembly simply unbolt from the trailer deck. This gives you the ability to obtain a warrant of fitness (WOF) without having to take your tiny house to the testing station when using the wireless controller, it also makes it easy to carry out maintenance simply. An added bonus - you could use this trailer to pick up building materials while the house is suspended during build or completion.
Low Floor Height
We use strong low profile wheels to achieve a low floor height starting at 600mm. This creates a flat deck to build over to keep it simple and quick to get your house started. It is possible to go lower please enquire.
Adjustable Wheel Dolly
Not sure where the center of gravity will be on your house? Or want to have the ability to freestyle your build as you go and not worry too much about axle placement? We have the solution with a wheel dolly that is adjustable forward and back to ensure you have the correct weight on the vehicle tow bar for safe towing.
Draw Bar Mounts Both Ends
Trying to get your mobile tiny house into a tricky position? We’ve got you sorted with a drawbar that can mount either end of the trailer deck.
Lightweight
We think weight is the most challenging aspect to building a tiny house on wheels (THOW). Our trailers utilise ‘smart design’ using 3D modelling and strength testing software to ensure strength whilst being lightweight compared to others on the market. For example our Smart Trailer Road 2.4 x 7.2 weighs only 650kg approx, leaving you with that bit of extra weight for the rest of your house.
Simple House Mounting
Mounting the floor and walls is simple with perimeter mounting holes. Nuts and bolts will sandwich the trailer steel, sub-floor and wall bottom plate to form a very strong connection.
Thermal Sub-floor
You know what it's like to touch steel on a cold day, so why would you build your floor directly on it? Steel conducts approx 350 times better than pine timber meaning the cold will travel straight up and into your home if building directly on steel. We recommend the use of timber and insulation to keep you warmer in winter and cooler in summer, this also reduces your energy bills. More info here.
Lifting and Tie Down Accessories
The outrigger holds the lifting jack or lifting arm. Comes standard on all models except the Road trailer where they can be purchased as an upgrade.
The lifting jacks are used to lift the house in four places enabling you to be able to remove or adjust the dolly and draw bar assembly. They also allow you to level your build platform in minutes to a good, even working height.
The tie down eyes are used to secure the house to the ground for wind, flooding and security reasons. You can also attach a strop or something similar to these to secure your house to a truck deck for transportation.
The removable lifting arms are used to lift the house onto a truck or site.
Quality Assured
Strength
We treat trailers as house foundations and you only get one shot at getting it right. We build trailers strong but without unnecessary weight. Our trailer has been analysed by an independent structural engineer and FEA analysis (strength testing) so you know it's not going to break.
Trailer Components
We have teamed up with who we feel are the leading trailer suppliers in NZ Trailequip and Treadway. They supply only quality products and are always innovating and improving.
Quality
We build things to last. We use NZ sourced steel and hot dip galvanise as standard, giving it the best possible protection to last. Let's face it who wants to do trailer repairs with a house on top? Welding and fabrication is done by an experienced certified craftsman.
